Bengaluru 10K Challenge 2023 - My Experience

Bengaluru 10K challenge, with tagline “The toughest 10K” certainly lives up to its claim of being tough. That maybe because of my lack of training as well 🙊. The race happens in NICE road, one of the busiest road which connects Bengaluru and Mysuru. The surface is concrete and with a good finish for running. I usually run barefoot and it is such a treat to run in this smooth concrete than the typical tar surfaces. Weather was humid, but the temperature was low and pleasant.

The event is well organized in my view. There were volunteers everywhere, multiple counters for security checks, baggage deposition and refreshments. This made it easy for the 7000+ people gathered at the venue. The food counter was arranged at ~1km from the finish point which is really bad. It was good for crowd control, but after running a 10K, it is a pain to walk additional kms to have the breakfast.

This is my first public event in 4 years. My goal was to complete the course, meet my Running Roadies friends and have fun. I wasn’t focused on chasing any milestone. During the run, I was accompanied by Gurleen ji for the entire time. he is the Running Roadies founder, a great friend, gem of a person. The race was full of catching up and technical discussions, event plannings etc. Overall my objective was completed.
